Modification must be installed over an unmodified copy of the Rome - Total War, Barbarian
Invasion expansion patched to version 1.6. Before attempting to install mod launch Barbarian Invasion
go into 'Options' screen and check it says v1.6 in the top right hand corner. If it says 1.4 you need to
apply patch first which can be found at:http://www.totalwar.com/ (Go to 'support - rome' section)
BEFORE installing the mod using the installer you must carry out the following procedure.
(Preferably make a back up copy of your entire Rome - Total War directory if space allows)
TO INSTALL: You MUST make a COPY of the entire BI folder within the Rome - Total War directory, do this using
the copy and paste commands, so you end up with a folder named 'bi' and a folder named 'Copy of bi'
Re-name the folder called 'Copy of bi' to 'eod' (without the quotation marks)
Drag the eod folder into the bi folder so the file path into it is now
Rome - Total War/bi/eod
Launch the installer and direct it to the Rome - Total War directory where you have just carried out
these operations. Path in installer should look like
C:\program files\activision\Rome - Total War
or your equivalent (do not include \bi in the file path) run installer.
The game should now be fully installed, to play it you need to make a shorcut to the BI.exe
right click the BI.exe in the 'Rome - Total War' folder, select create shortcut. Once created right click
on the shortcut and select properties in the target line after the last " type: space-mod:bi/eod space-show_err
so your target line now looks like:
"C:\program files\activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:bi/eod -show_err
We recommend running game with -show_err on the shortcut, to obtain error message,
incase you have any problems with the installation or the game.
For your convenience you can rename the shortcut to End of Days or similar and drag or copy
and paste it onto your desktop. OPTIONAL: you may also wish to use the End of Days icon for the shortcut, to
add this right click the shortcut again, select 'properties', then select 'change icon', browse to the installation folder
and select End of Days.ico, click 'OK' and 'Apply'.
Launch the game from the shortcut you have created. Enjoy.....

NOTE: the only original game file that is overwritten by this installation is the introduction video in
bi\data\fmv, BI_Intro_640x480.wmv. To restore the original video re-name this one (to anything else) and copy
and paste the BI_Intro_640x480.wmv that is in bi\eod\data\fmv into bi\data\fmv. You will then have the
original video restored. To revert again just restore the later file to its original name.
This is a presentational point only at all times you will be able to play your
original installation of BI by either directly starting from the BI.exe or from your original shortcut to it,
and EOD will remain playable from the modified shortcut.
IT'S MEANT TO BE EASY AT THE BEGINNING !!!
Please do not be put off and think game will remain easy - it won't.
Factions are initially widely spaced and the rebels relatively docile, this allows the player
some years of expansion before the large battles commence. Use this time wisely to enhance your
economy and military might, you'll need both later.
Recommended settings for game are difficulty levels of 'Possessed' for both campaign and
battle settings, although anyone feeling brave can try 'Pandemonium' - and large unit size (set in video options - advanced)
OPTIONAL: If anyone prefers a quicker start to the game, a version of Epistolary Richard's Year Jump Mod is included,
if you wish to jump ahead to 680AD: on the FIRST TURN view one of your settlements, and click on the advisor in
the construction tab view, follow instructions that come up. This will get you into conflict with the major powers
sooner, but be warned the AI may not have left you the economic or military structure you'll need to fight them!
